Temp jumping
The impellers on these pumps are just a paddle design, the poorest design of all, especially at idle. Best would be a cupped directional.
The last new pump I bought, I put it in a hydraulic press and pressed the impeller as close to the casting as possible, without having the blades hit. I moved approx 1/8" on the shaft.
Don't know how much this helped flow in numbers, but I guarantee it improved it, especially at idle.
I would suspect the condition of the airflow thru the rad more than anything. A good shroud sealed as best as possible to the rad. Perhaps find a better fan with more blades with more pitch. If you're using a fan clutch, check that, they should have less slip the hotter the air thru the rad gets.
