G' day Fellow F.T.E.'s,
Number Dummy I'm wondering if You are "On-Line-Available" ???, if so can You please Fully Decode The Following VIN Tag Number,,, The Truck is meant to be A 1966 Ford Crew Cab,,,
F25BC875057
147 F250 81F B4
5800 150 3600 540274
Thank You For Your Help,,,
Cheers and Best Regards,,, Graeme...
Graeme, haven't seen ND post much lately - maybe he's on holiday or something. I will take a shot for you. I'm guessing you haven't seen this truck and a potential seller is sending you this data? Hope he sends you a picture. Anyway: F25 = F250 2 wheel drive truck. B = 300 cubic inch I-6 1 bbl engine. C = built at Oakville, Ontario, Canada (consistent with Crew Cabs). 875057 = built in June, 1966. 147 = wheelbase in inches (Normal LWB F250 would be 129). Exterior Color Code is missing - that's consistent with a DSO. F250 = 3/4 ton truck, usually 7500 pound GVW rating. The fact that yours is only rated at 5800 pounds probably has something to do with the crew cab configuration. Just guessing, I really don't know. Interior trim code missing. F = Borg-Warner 4 speed manual transmission. B4 = Dana 60 limited slip differential with 4.10 gears. 5800 pounds = GVW rating. 150 @ 3600 is the engine's NET horsepower rating and the rpms where achieved. 540274 = Domestic Special Order from the Omaha, Nebraska district sales office. Unfortunately, all DSO records were discarded, so the meaning of "0274" cannot be ascertained, whether it's to do with color or equipment installed or the fact that it's a crew cab - it's unknown. Sorry. Hope this helps. G'day.
G' day SuperSabre and Number Dummy,

Hello am new to this site also and am in need of assitance. I am trying to determine if information provided when I purchased this truck is accurate. The reason I question accuracy is because the grille on my 65' F350 is the same as the 66'. If someone could decode the warranty tag it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

VIN: F35DE696296 / W.B. 132 / COLOR: W / MODEL: F350 / BODY: 281 / TRANS: A / AXLE: 23 / MAX GVWR LBS. 10000 / CERT NET HP: 172 / RPM: 4000 / DSO: 86
Welcome to FTE
September 1965: The IDIOTS at FoMoCo obsoleted the 1965 grilles, replaced them with 1966 grilles for use as "service part replacements." 1965 grilles have been hard to find ever since.
F35 = F350.
D = 352 2V.
E = Mahwah NJ Assembly Plant.
696296 = 1965, assembled June 1965.
132" Wheelbase.
W = Medium Blue.
F350, 10,000 lbs. GVWR
281: 2 = Medium Blue Crush Vinyl & Medium Blue Wicker Pattern Vinyl / 81 = 81A Standard Cab.
A = No such TRANS code for 1965 F350. What trans does it have, 3 or 4 M/T or A/T?
Its a 4 speed manual with reverse over and down (towards seat). Those are the numbers of which it it titled and matching door numbers (warranty tag). From other threads I have read the numbers are stamped somewhere on the frame? Would the warranty tag be located anywhere else on the body of the vehicle?
Thanks for your prompt response.

New Process 435 (aka NP 435) 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
Ford confusion: According to Ford truck parts catalog (I can post pics if you like) inre to NP 435: TRANS code N was used in 1965, while TRANS code A was used 1966/79.
TRANS code A used in 1965only for F100/250 with Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual all syncromesh trans. C was used 1966/86.
And, VIN engine code D was used in 1965only for 352, while VIN engine code Y was used in 1966 (and 1967) for 352.
Warranty Plate located on left door face below latch. Hidden VIN stamped atop right (passenger) side frame rail either partially under cab or in front of cab...or in both places.
Thank you for your help. When I get home I double check to make sure all numbers match and a door swap did not occur at some point in history, especially since vehicle is titled with the VIN on door (provided earlier).
