7.3 knock issue or??
Hi I bought this van not running well I got it to run! Rebuilt the oil cooler then re did all the injector o rings. 50 cent mod while I was in there. Anyways. Ive been fighting getting all this old coolant out of the oil and I got it pretty good now. So I fire it up and I have a strange thumping sound. Maybe I didn't torque an injector down right? I'm looking for ideas on what it could be. Compression going past o rings? I read possibly a cracked flex plate? There are no stored codes. Maybe I just need to drive it more since I haven't ran it much since I put the injectors back in?
That's a video of it running if anyone needs more info let me know. One thing is the ebpv thing was wired open and the flap is stuck wide open now. I don't think that would affect it.... And my alternator is cracked pretty bad I'm going to pull the belt off and spin it see if that's making the thumping sound. Thanks for any help guys.

What are your thoughts on this 'motor blown'? Cracked block/heads? How are we sure that the oil cooler was bad and it is now not leaking?

I had another thread about that issue. I ran multiple tests and I know for a fact that oil cooler was the issue. Filled resivoir 8 hours later my water is in the oil pan pull oil cooler and find bad o rings and ripped gasket on back side of oil cooler that someone tried to use sealant on to fix it. Log story short out oil cooler back on and it held te water for 48 hours didn't change at all nothing came out ofte oil pan.

I did the oil cap trick as soon as I got it running. Doesn't blow the cap off. Ill try to get you guys a better video today. I agree though it really does sound like a dead cylinder maybe? I'm really confused on it though because I have no check engine light... Wouldn't a dead injector make a check engine light go off? In going to use a thermometer on the exhaust manifolds today to see if its an injector. Keep in mind also there is air in the HPOP system and there still might be some in te fuel system. I haven't ran this very much since I got the injectors in. I can't tell if you guys notice but when I rev the engine it does shake a little it reminds me a lot of when I had air in my fuel system on my truck. Ill get you guys a better video.

Would there be anything wrong with draining the oil and removing the oil filter, then, with the filter removed, and the drain cap removed, pressurize the coolant system and see if any water starts coming out?

Ok here is exactly what I did. Before I took this thing apart I drained all the oil. Fill te resivoir with water and waited 12 hours went back to the van and the resivoir was empty. So I pulled te oil plug and there's my water. This guy claimed he had the oil cooler replaced I looked at it and if he means replaced as in a junkyard found replacement then yes he had it replaced. I took the oil cooler apart found buildup on the back matting surface on the block very bad so I used a wire wheel and it took me a little while to get it all off. Also I noticed his gasket was ripped. The rubber piece on the oil cooler gaskets to the block well the rubber part was ripped on top of all the dirt in there. Then I checked the front one.
