I have a 67 f250 with a stock 352, upon removal of the engine and a new install I notices no holes in the push rods ?
The new set had none, I dont have the old ones but I didnt recall seeing them either.
Just rebuilt a 460 in my 87 and it had them in fact chilton refers to
the holes in the push rode just not specifically for this year .
Is this,
really normal ?
Could use the feedback if anyone knows anything about this ?
Hi C_rossman,
ya know I am not compltely sure not to sound stupid but Ive never worked on a solid lifter car, I know that it looks very different from the 460 top end. The new rocker arms had holes like it would come out of. My problem is a 352 is not a 351 or 360. in fact there are some substanial differences. and finding specs is not easy ! How wouldI tell visually if it was solids ?
Thaks Woody.
Thats interestings didnt realize there was room for oil to come up any where.
But how does the oil get to the rocker shaft if you dont mind one more question?
One of the four rockershaft mounting bolts is turned down to let oil flow from a passage machined into the head into the rockerstand. With the rockershaft off you can distinguish which one is the oil passage. It will be the second from the front or rear depending on which side of the engine you are on. Woody
I wonder why chilton doesnt mention it in the install of the rocker and pushrods !
I guess it installed right I didnt notice any problem they torqed fine and fit fine .
Solid lifter FE's had adjustable rockers. and the pushrods had a cup on the top end to fit the adjusting screw. The oil passages had some differences as well. hth
