The Throttle Body on my 2001, 4.6 L is making a strange whiring noise, when you puy your hand on the intake pipe, you can feel a slight vibration. The Truck idles and runs okay, with no codes. Giving it a little gas and the noise goes away. The last thing I did was clean the IAC with Gum Out Carb cleaner, the second or third time I've done this over many years, with no problems. I'm a little perplexed at the cause.
The IAC isn't vibrating, and the noise isn't coming from there. The Truck was having some rough idle, almost stalling issues before I cleaned the IAC. Now it is smooth idling. It sounds like when a heater motor has bad bearings. If you pull the air cleaner it is especially loud.
Just did the same thing on my 97, took a while for me to pin point the problem. I thought cleaning it would fix it, but it turned out that it just needed to be replaced entirely.
