Because it's a whole bank, I suspect a loose connection at the IDM (under the wheel well, so rain + loose connection). We've already ohmed the circuit from the 42-pin on, so now we follow it back to the IDM.
There are two known issues that are "common" to the wipers and the IDM - common (ground). There has been a rash of loose grounds on the wiper motor and the IDM. It's a good place to start, and the IDM will be out for inspection then.
Put on about 100 miles today in stock . Didn't act up at all, and it rained last night. IDM was my first thought until I found that wire. I modded my IDM 3-4 yrs ago and sealed it up real good, so I don't think it is that. Next I'll have to check the it's connection and ground. Thanks for the input guys.
I also got two of my doors modded with the 3/8" tubing last night, figured out a nice trick to doing it with only one person. It involves a clamp, fish stick insted of tape, a 12' plank and a 5 gal bucket.
I got the chip back from Jody today, I will re-instal tomorrow. It was a short in the cable from the chip to the switch, that was causing the switch to shut down.
I don't have any other answers though, truck has been running just fine and the rain hasn't let up much. I will post if it rears it's head.
I put the chip back in, the truck still died, so I determined that it was the switch not the cable. I contacted DP and they sent me a new switch with a return shipping label for the old one. I now have a new switch and cable and a truck that is running on it's new tunes. Jody and Diane were great to work with, as always and we got it figured out.
Still have the mystery as to why I was losing the driver side bank, I figure it must of been a bad connection at the wiring harness on the outside of the VC.
Good to hear you got it fixed for the second time. My cable does the same thing by vibrating out the back off the switch. I think its kind of a poor design. I dont want to have to put a zip tie on it. should make it where there are locking tabs so it dont back out.

How long have you had the chip? The new cable and switch fit a lot more snug than the old one. Mine was 6 years old.
No, It causes the whole engine to shut down. It was just a coincidence that they both happened at the same time.

Put an '02 engine in the truck, so I was able to go though wiring some. I think I found the cause to the intermittent miss. An injector wire had been rubbing on the valve cover at the 42 pin connector and was arching.
I wrapped my wiring harness to reinforce it against chaffing last summer, this may come up more frequently for other trucks. Thanks for posting your find!
