Need new Tires

Hey guys, maybe i didnt try hard enuff, but I am in need of a set of 37" or 38" tires for a 16 inch rim, and when I search in here I didnt see one set which is kind of hard to believe with most smart people down sizeing with gas prices being so high and all that. So Im just gonna post this and see what happens. I live in South Jersey and my 2000 EX has an 8" lift. I might be interested in new rims too if the price is right, considering 16" rims are becoming increasingly hard to find tires for. I want at least 13.5" wide with aggressive tread, no sissy pizza cutters with oversized car tires! Thank you in advance for your time. You can inbox me if you would like.

Toyo MT's are great in my opinion. I absolutely love them, and they have a good range of sizes, OPEN COUNTRY M/T | Toyo Tires

Are you using 16" stock rims? Cuz those are only 7" wide, you should really go for a wider rim for tires that wide.

This size recommends a 10-12" wide rim: LT385/70R16 130Q D/8 (38X14.50R16)

I already of custom rims with 325/80's and they'll good but 16" rims are just getting hard to find tires, figured I'd upgrade now if the situation comes up.

Ya I'll be going with 17's soon cuz of that. I was at first thinking of 18's but the offroad rims I want don't go to 18's

It's bad *** though to run 35" tires on a 16" rim with less width then tire IMOP! Reason being they bulge tire outward making it sit wider and just looks cool! Not sure if that is good for it or not lol

I have 33's on my stock (16x7) rims, hopefully this summer I'll be going to (almost) 34/35's on 17x8.5 rims

The Toyo MT's are great tires - if you don't want something as aggressive (or noisy) then the Toyo AT2's are a great alternative. I went from Mickey Thompson ATZ's (great tire!) to the BFG Rugged Terrain (good looking all season tire) to now the Toyo AT2's and absolutely love them. Took them on the beach for Mother's Day and they did incredible and look good doing it.

That's good to hear. I was looking into the AT2's also for a less aggressive tread, as I'm doing more highway miles now. The only thing deterring me is their 17" options are very slim when comparing the E-rating and max load capacities to the MT's. Are your 285's e-rated? This is why I was considering 18's before was for a larger selection of tires.

They are E rated. Looking at their size chart, you are definitely limited.

LT285/70R17 121/118S E/10
35X12.50R17LT 121R E/10

Although E-rated, on Toyo's site, those are only max load @ 3,195 lbs

While some equivalent Toyo MT's:

LT295/70R17 128P E/10 (33X11.50R17) @ 3,970 lbs (80psi max)

35X12.50R17LT 125Q E/10..................@ 3,640 lbs (65psi max)

These would probably be what I would choose from as I can't see going to much lower than my current LT285/75R16 126P E/10 (33X11.50R16) @ 3,740 lbs (at 80psi), I also just recently was told by a friend about tirecrawler.com and can get those 295/70R17's at like $283 per tire, not bad imo.

The never ending search for tires....

If I could piggyback this thread and see if the popular opinion has changed for stock rims? What is the best all weather tire out there? Zero off road except for an occasional wet muddy parking lot.....

Thank You. Cooper Discoverer ATR are the ones I've got now and I do not want them again.
