I've got an '89 Bronco 302, I'm running shorty headers into the stock Y pipe into the 2 into 1 cat and all new 3" after that.
I was wondering if anyone has installed one of the Flowmaster Y pipes in place of that 2 into 1, I thought it might smooth out the airflow a little bit.
I've never measured the stock Y pipe to see if it's 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 so I don't know which one it would be, but it's either Flowmaster part # Y214300A or # Y250300A, depending on the size it is. They're in the Summit catalog.
These pipes run ~$40 apiece, I am not going to be spending a lot of money on one of the good complete Y pipes that go from the headers back to the cat, I want to get some improvement in my exhaust system as cheap as possible.
brian, ive also wanted to do this with mine, so any answers will also help me. I was always wondering if one of those Flowmaster y collecters would work. Anybody ever done it?
