i have a 2005 fx4, the fender flares and wiper cowl have turned grey from sun,has anyone else had this problem? i am wonderin if i could use vinyl dye or maybe some satin finish paint to make them look good again. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Meguiar's "Back to Black" seems to work pretty well on mine. While mine haven't turned completely grey, the fender trim that I used some on to clean off some wax residue still looks nice and black after a few months.
my wiper cowl and bed caps are faded also..I have tryed mothers back to black armor all and neither one of them worked..Gonna repaint them soon and see what that does for them
I just used turtle wax trim restorer and it worked really good, I don't know about the long term I just did 2 coats this past week. I should have taken before and after pics but I didn't. I also tried mothers in the past and it didn't work that good TW was much better. Ill post time in time to let you guys know how long it lasted. A lot of people plastidip or paint the cowl I may think about that in the future.

I use this as well and it usually lasts about 2-3 weeks depending on the weather. Best so far. Bottom line is, if the material is faded, it's faded. I rhino lined my flares and door/bumper trim as well.
I've tried Armor All, Mothers B2B, and all the others you can name including 303 protectant. None of them last more than a month or so. Late last summer I found the time to actually paint them properly. Tape, masked, and covered the truck. Duplicolor's paint prep to remove the nastiness embedded in the plastic first. I emptied the can on the plastic...almost 3 applications. I let that completely dry and used Bondo's Bumper Black rattle can paint. BBB can be found at O'Reilly's. It's now 8+ months later and the flares look just like they did after the multiple light coats dried on day 1. It took a few hours from start to finish, but it was worth every minute as the results are great.
