Cannot find reverse wire for backup camera install

My reverse camera goes over the mirror, its a mirror when not in use and a camera when in reverse. The way this one is set up, the camera taps switched 12 volts at the rear of the car (tapped trailer connector for these) and the video signal runs forward (ran under headliner to center console to mirror). The monitor needs 12 volts, ground, and + 12 volts when I shift into reverse. I just read a half dozen threads where people suggested tapping into a black wire with pink stripe in the driver's kick panel. Just checked, no such wire on mine. I do not want to run a wire back from the taillight, this seems backwards since the power goes from the front of the truck to the reverse light in the taillight I just need to find the right wire. I checked the reverse relay and the fuse in the fusebox and they are both 12 volts when the truck is on, so they must be prior to the reverse switch.

Thanks I will check that first thing tomorrow. I had the fuse box out but couldn't make heads or tails of it since the wires don't really like up with the plugs. Wish ford had done a separate fuse for switched power to the taillights, that would make my job easy!

I found mine in the loom along the frame rail under the drivers seat.

on my truck I actually climbed under it and tied to the harness going to the transmission. Went through a grommet that I already had wiring running under already. I had my wife sit in the truck and move the shifter to reverse and neutral till I found it.

I've heard tales of a wire that runs along the passenger side to the back up lights. Maybe someone else can chime in about that.

Theres also a reverse light feed in the 7 pin trailer harness. follow the harness clear to the front of the vehicle and tap in there maybe?

I tapped in under the master cylinder in the engine compartment. If I remember right it was black with pink. I just looked for the loom with the tail light wiring.

I tapped into the wiring by the brake light, and installed extra wires for future mods. I used a set for my led back-up lights. Those camera's don't draw much power.

He is looking for a wire at the front for his monitor trigger. He has the camera hooked up.

The stock mirror - with auto-dimming - has a reverse signal wire aleeady. In reverse the mirror un-dims to aid with backing. Haven't installed my gendex mirror with- b/u camera yet, but getting ready, after my ficm is repaired by Ed...

I didn't even think of that wire. I guess because my system is in my radio.

I tapped into the plug on the back of the SRM, 3rd plug in on the bottom from the right, black with a pink, to trigger the radio. In the back of the truck I grabbed a 12+ IGN on feed in the jack/hvac compartment to power the camera when the ignition is on.

Yep! That is the one ('05 at least)
I will have a switch next to my dome override switch to power the camera on demand as well.
