any thoughts, 2005 F350 SD Supercab 4x4, 278000 km, starts well, idles fine, when it gets up to operating temp, misses, surges, lack of power, sort of a weird gray/tan then black smoke, then it takes off like a banshee in heat(of course the pedal is to the metal) turbo spools up fine when its starts to run properly, any ideas?? It does this intermittantly, I notice it usually taking off from a stop, etc
No, injectors were replaced two weeks ago, ran like a top, if its the turbo shouldn't there be some unusual noise , it spools up fine when it starts to run smoothly, altho when I replaced the injectors, the inlet hose to the turbo was cut by the mech tighting the clamp way to tight, so its been letting in some dirty air for 125,000 km or so.
Any codes? When was the last time the EGR valve was cleaned, it could be dirty or sticking intermittently.
Smell your oil, see if it smells like diesel, even though the injectors are new, copper washer or o-rings could of been knicked. Also, when they were installed, where the bolt threads for the hold downs cleaned out and torqued proper.
Well I wont rule out an Inject untill they are Tested this will include FICM & Inject Possibly Fuel Press to
Was any of this stuff checked Recently^^^^^
Maybe the Turbo Got Dusted
Or CAC System leak
What exact hose was It???
Or a Sensor went bad that the PCM uses to calibrate the turbo It wont really make any Odd Noises though
The hose was the low pressure inlet hose from the air cleaner to the turbo
( the split part was right where it clamps on the turbo,) I did notice some shaft play side to side, yes the injectors where torqued down correctly, if they weren't shouldn't it run rough all the time? If its a bad sensor why does it run really good for a time?

Well we could sit and go round and round all Night and get NOWHERE Fast By Going threw Hundreds of diffrent senereos
You need to get a Gauge to read Live Data threw the OBDII PORT
And You Can BUBBLE Test by Pullen FICM FUSE and Fuel Pump Fuse take the Cap of the Upper fuel filter and Crank it over while Checking for Bubbles in upper fuel filter housing
Just let the Diagnostic Routine find the Problem!!!!!
Benny , Im all EARS, just my 2cnts, clean map connection to Intake? IAT2 senser? EBP and tube ,ICP no oil out the connection side also do a wiggle test to the connection when running? the gauge to read live data will help.
Benny I have noticed ICPV big fluxs in values do you have the operating values, this could help the OP aswell.

What guages and where can I obtain them, I'm near Calgary Ab. Would NAPA, Parts Source or the like have them, which ones are the ones to do the job?
And no harshness detected, I'll check the wiring in an hr or so, going out for breakie, seeing I'm not going fishing.
Thanks for all the info, I'll keep you posted.
P.S. What exactly does "dusting the turbo pertain too" I know the turbo would be shot but would it be siezed, etc???
Dusting the turbo means the wearing away of the blades/impellors of the compressor section because of particles (dirt/dust) bypassing the air filter. This situation also causes damage in the engine as well.
Benny is suggesting that you get a scangaugeII unit (Autozone carries them, not sure which of the other stores carry them)
