Been around OBS trucks all my life and finally picked one up as a secondary vehicle to keep the miles off my 6.4. A little history on the truck. It's a '97 F-250 regular cab long bed 4x4 5-speed. Cousin was tired of dealing with little issues so he parked it and I bought it from him. His biggest issue was bio diesel. The rear tank, both sending units, fuel lines, and selector valve were all trashed. Took front tank off, cleaned, and replaced sending unit. Didnt put a new tank in the rear just left it off. Ran new supply and return lines up to the motor and replaced mechanical pump in the valley. Also removed the selector valve. Truck runs great. Does my fuel level gauge problem stem from the selector valve not being there? If so, could I just get the old one back on and plug it up? Should this correct my problem? New to the intricacies of the OBS trucks.
Yes, the fuel selector valve completes the circut for the fuel gauge. I don't remember the colors of the wires, but you could experment jumping the wires on the wiring plug, and when you find the right 2 it should make the gauge work, if the sender isn't FUBARed.
