I just had my 390 rebuilt and had it for about a week it has a performance cam, intake manifold, headers and exhaust and a Holley 4 barrel. After driving home last night I noticed it was dripping oil lost maybe a quarter of a quart of oil I tightened the oil lines where it seemed to be coming from but was wondering if this could be expected or should I take a deeper look into it. This is my first engine build and I'm not too skilled in all of this any help is appreciated thank you.
Check the top of the engine at intake manifold and valve covers. Did you use new covers, if you reused did you block them to get them flat? You could have damaged the seal when installing the intake.
1/4 of a quart is alot ! you should be able to follow it to it's origin , new engine shouldn't have leaks , something might have vibrated loose so double check everything .
biggie is getting the intake manifold down without disturbing the front and back intake manifold gaskets .
Don't use them. Run a 3/8's bead of ultra black rtv, let it get tacky, app. 15 min, and set the intake down. I use an engine hoist and two pieces of threaded rod in the block to let the intake drop on square with no side movement. One rod front left the other rear right or reverse. Your choice.

Toss those cork end gaskets in the garbage, i like to "dimple" the china walls for better adhesion (bite), and use Motorcraft TA-31 sealant (the gray stuff), better than the black/blue RTV, guaranteed leak free. Give it a try.

I have tried the silicone idea once and never again
Sounds like patients is the key along with a strong back or better yet an engine hoist if using a stock 4 barrel manifold. All good info to follow when I get ready to change my 65 352 FE over to a 4barrel.
