Can someone with a 99-07 250 SD help me out? I need a fairly quick measurement. I have a 99 250 SD. I need the distance for the tailgate pivot points, see pics below. I have measured 62 7/16".
I measured my 2 beds again...really close to 63 gate////62 bed.. I'm a carpenter so I know how to measure..So 1/2 inch overlap on each side works for me...
Maybe the brackets are bent or maybe you could space them out although the gaps on the sides of the gate may be huge. My question is how is your bed 7/16 out at the bottom. I could see at the top but the bottom is pretty stout. Check the opening at the bottom and at the top to see if its V shaped. Mine measures 64" at the top of the tail light and 64 at the bottom of the light.
I have 64 at bottom and top of taillights. So the bed looks square enough, whew. The bracket on the right is pushed/tweaked in a little but it did not look like there was enough there to put it off that far. But at this point is has to be in that area(s).
I will take a closer look in the daylight. If I am lucky I will be able to bend things back, but as you mentioned I could do a 1/4" spacer on each side if needed.
took some time today to look this over again. While nothing stood out at me I decided to take out the pickle fork and get to bending. I was able to pull out(or in) each side by a 1/4" or so. Was amazed at how easy it was move these points around.
The end result is a f-150 tailgate successfully mounted on f-250 SD!! Everything lines up fine now and for 38 bucks I am back in business, gotta love the ol pull and pay.
Hi I'm a new subscriber, so just now seeing the different posts on the tailgates measurements issue one gentleman was having years back now from the dates on the posts I read. This is interesting to me because I took ownership of an 2003 f250 super duty xlt approximately 3-4 years ago now. The truck did not come with a tailgate so I picked up a couple of used f250 tailgates with light cosmetic damage neither one will work. Looks like everything is a match but when I go to install it, tailgate just falls through and land's on the bumper. The bed is in rough shape cosmetically, so I measured top side to side and bottom side to side everything seems square. Has been very frustrating and would like to get a tailgate in there at some point. Has anyone had this tailgate issue or know someone that has, also is it possible Ford had different width f250 tailgates in or around 2003?
