sad day

Well I picked up my truck today after having mbrp 4" turbo back exhuast and sinister egr deletw put on. Loaded my tune up from spartan, The 165 dpf off tune, went down the road and got on her.... and BAM blew the block off plate to the exhaust manifold off. Had her towed back to the shop and will start on her tomorrow. Must say though I have never felt so much power before in my life. And I wasn't even running the warhammer 200 tune

Wow...I haven't heard of that before. I hope the plate didn't do any damage on it's ejection. Did you install it or a shop? Shop would have some explaining to do...maybe didn't tighten the bolts???

I had a very reputable shop here in colorado do it. When they took out the egr the bolts broke off in the exhaust manifold so they drilled and tapped it but must not have done a very good job. They are considering tig welding it tomorrow if I give the ok. Since my warranty is almost up I'm considering it. I'm giessing the exhaust manifold is made of cast steel since its magnetic? Any thoughts on that?

I'd make them fix it right myself. I don't think I'd let them tig weld it. They can drill it out and tap it properly. They likely did a crappy job and are asking you to live with it. I'd tell them NO.

Yeah I'm gonna talk to them about helicoil and see if that would be an option because I don't wanna weld it if I don't have to. They can take their time doing this also because this i want it done right

I was going to ask what year your truck was but it came up in your sig a few posts down. I just did this to my '13 and had no issue with the bolts. They are only 8 or 10mm and used a 1/4" drive ratchet, and that was putting on the block off plate with the cooler still in so I could use a pyro source for the MiniMaxx. The cooler is off now though and nothing gave me trouble then.
Heat cycles over time I guess ... I hope you get a reliable fix !

They want to tig the block off plate right to the manifold? That might suck when it comes time to sell or trade and you might have to return it to stock? Seems those bolts snap easy if the motor is warm, if you let the truck sit over night they won't snap off.

Yeah, the 6.7's rip pretty nice with tunes, enough to fill most passengers shorts!!!

Sorry to hear about you're "premature ejection" of the block off plate, but I bet all you can think about is getting back in and experiencing raw power lol

What did the shop end up doing? Are you happy with the results?
