What do you all use to clean an EGR valve? Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, wire brush, toothbrush? This will be my first project other then oil and filter changes.

 

I just used carb cleaner. Read that brake cleaner just gunks it up, not sure though. I tried using a old toothbrush, the brush literally turned black and sticky before it could've done any good. I just sprayed it down good with the carb cleaner, sprayed some on a shop rag and fed it through the gaps and tugged it both ways to clean up the inside of it. Not too hard.
