I have just put my volare front clip in. Does anybody make a big brake kit for this . It would be nicer to have larger rotars . also what steering colom shuld I use. and does any body make floor pans for a 64.
Justin the stock brakes on mine work just fine. Bigger rotors would be overkill unless your racing it or hauling heavy loads often. I hauled 1600lbs to the dump in 1 load (what was I thinkin) and didn't have any problems like fade or excessive heat. If anything you'll want to upgrade the rears to 2.5"X10". I'm using an 84 Fairmont master cylinder, booster, and proportioning valve. My rear brakes came from an 81 F150 I had to modify the backing plates to fit my 61 housing. If you need some more details post back with specifics you need. Good luck, Rich.
I was wondering because I'm planning to puting disk brakes on rear of the truck. The disks in this kit are 11 inchs. What type of steering column are you using. And is there any info about this front end I may need to know. Any info is helpful.
I found it on ebay and it does provide an option for rear discs. I guess this company will do a rear brake setup for any year 9". I think the rotors plus the backing plates are $199 - you supply calipers and hoses and pads. They also sell the entire kit for $499 (if you don't feel like going to the yard and scrounging up a Cadillac) - you just specify the year. Just an idea that I was thinking about pursuing myself.
hey cobraguy, did the mastercylinder combo just bolt up and what rod did u use?? I have a truck that already has the torsion bars under it just hasnt made it any further than that. oh what colum did u use?? thanks in advance . Steven
Steven I pulled the whole pedal assembly out and founr that three holes matched up pretty close, I just had to knock off the spotwelded nuts on the pedal frame thing. I then had to drill the fourth hole. Then I put it back in and had to make the big hole in the firewall a little bigger to fit. Last I drilled the fourth hole in the firewall then bolted the booster up. I don't remember which rod I used but I didn't have to do anything fancy. I do know I got the rod worked out while I had the pedal assembly out. I used the stock truck steering shaft and colunm. I welded an extension on the Mirada steering shaft from the box where the two crossed I marked them, cut them, and welded in a u-joint. The u-joimt sit about 2" below the floorboard. Keep in mind My clip sits below the frame and is notched into it.
thanks cobraguy I have a 86 t-bird that I am parting out right now I will have to look at it this weekend and see if it all kinda looks like it might fit with a little help.
I have a 9 inch out of a 70's something. I put it on top of my leafs and c'ed the frame the pumpkin hits the bed if it bounces a lot.
