Replacing ball joints on Volare front end.

My friend has a 1954 Short bed with a Volare front end he is trying to change out ball joints on . The lower ball joint appears to have 2 spot welds that prevent it from pressing through. I don't know which model front end it is. But does anybody know if u have to replace the arm with the ball joint on the lower?

If they're welded in, they're probably stripped. You can get them refurbished complete on Ebay.

The lower's should be a press fit, and the upper's are screw in. The spot weld's are added usually on a replaced ball joint when the fit is questionable. They used to make o/s press fit lower's. Check with MOOG, they should still be listed. Good luck.
