Steering problems F250
I know its a know problem that my 01 F-250 SD 4x4 has crappy steering I don't have stock tires just one size over which shouldn't be hurting this much I want it fixed! Ok here's the problem that I have at an idle and really low rpms you can't hardly turn the thing unless your moving some or either give it some more rpms. I've read wear ford knew about the problem and never fixed it. I'm wanting to know is there a swap from the F-450/F-550's steering that will fit my F-250 with out having to do a lot of custom work or buying a ram for it. I know that will do the trick but i ain't got 2 grand. Or is there any other things i can't do to fix it? Thanks for the comments and please remember college kid that ain't got a whole lot of money.

I have not tired flushing it out since I've had it but I got it for family and they had and didn't help. It is full I've made a point it checking the level but its always the same and full so i don't have a leak anywhere. That's i was wondering if the F-450/F-550 would fix since the one Ford put on doesn't have much pressure as the F-450/F-550 ones.

I dont have my cheat sheet on me, (I work on to many different things) but im almost positive it thats ATF not power steering. If im right, thats most likely your problem.

Ding ding, there is the problem. Now you have to flush it out. Put some ATF in there. If that doesn't do it, check your front tire pressures too. Mine was intermittently hard to turn, with 315's, and it turned out my front tire pressures were down significantly. Ran them up to 55psi and steering effort is way down.

hello had that problem on my truck i had wide rims on it and it made it hard to turn to get in parking spots and wore out both front wheel bearings. i put narrower rims on it and flush steering system and put reline p.s fluid it it and it works fine. i heard of people blowing seals on power booster and hoses from the same thing (wide wheels).
