Last week, I did a several hundred mile trip, nothing out of the ordinary. I was however towing my Airstream, as I do, since we fulltime. Yesterday, I engaged the cruise control, and nothing happened, nothing, not a blinky light, not a slow loss of speed control, just nothing. I searched for a cause and effect and this led me to discover a diagnostic procedure which helped me find the problem.
In my case, I already had the wiring harness recall, but I'm unsure if the pressure switch was replaced, as it is covered with brake fluid and gunk. The pressure switch turns out to be faulty. I bypassed it to test, and sure enough it is bad. For the moment, I made a jumper to bypass the bad switch, and so I can use the cruise. I will replace it at my earliest opportunity. As I understand it, ford will replace through the recall event, even if only the fused pigtail was replaced.
I read lots of people having trouble with this.
Hope this helps someone.
I'll post the whole diagnostic procedure.... Posting from my tablet, and it isn't as friendly as the computer.
Happy cruising
