I finally got a new fuel pump rod for the V8 flathead in my 1950 F-1 pickup. I have a brand new Airtex 578-9350 fuel pump to go with it. I tried to install it and low-n-behold, the pump stand sits about a quarter inch off of the intake. I'm confused.
Comparing the old rod to the new rod, the old one is a tad shorter that appears to me can be accounted for by wear. I can't visually see much difference between the old and new fuel pump. I'm going to attempt to take more accurate measurements, but for now just know it sits too high!
