I'm hoping someone can point me to where I can obtain a new fuel pump push rod for my 1950 Ford F1 V8 flattie. I've checked all the normal online distributors and they all say the manufacturers are not making them. I have a new fuel pump and need the rod to make it original. I don't want to have to go to an electric pump. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Thank you for your replies. I'll give Dennis Carpenter a try. I've online ordered from a couple of suppliers that show they have it, then get an out of stock notice later. Hopefully Dennis has them. Thanks again.
Well, Dennis Carpenter cancelled my order. Apparently not available anywhere. Any other ideas before I start seeking out someone with a metal lathe? Thanks.
I'd be leery of a quick lathe job. The stock pushrod has hardened and ground ends. I've heard it's a specific length for trucks and a specific diameter. I have a used one, but it's from a car, I'll have to see if it will work and what shape it's in. I'm sure there are plenty of other folks with used ones on here too.
We always just welded a blob onto the end and then ground it to the specs. Weld is pretty hard. People did that stuff for years and years. For me, it's more fun to go 'homespun' rather than 'store-bought' on the repairs. But that's just me......
Thanks for the responses everyone. I've put in an order at Vintage Ford and will wait to see if it takes. ALBUQ F-1, if I exhaust all possibilities I'll definitely give you a PM. Thanks. The welding idea sounds like a good solution for the wear. My problem is the rod I had was "squished" by grips when the engine was taken apart. This engine sat in a field for many years. Making it round again would be difficult at best.

And a piece of good leather cut and fit up into the recess of the pump lever works quite well if the rod or cam is worn.
WOO HOO! I got one of the few remaining at Vintage Ford & Street Rod Parts. Shipping today. Thanks everyone for your help. And a special thanks to ALBUQ F-1 for the lead that got me the part. WOO HOO!!
