Cab swap?
Cab swap?
The cab of my '86 F250 is pretty badly rusted, and I have a chance to buy a '89 cab, supposed to be in excellent shape, for $600. Won't have a chance to go look at it 'til sometime next week. My questions are: does this sound like an OK price? How big is this job going to be? (the '89 cab is gutted - no dash, seat, windshield, wiring - so I'd have to remove everything from my old cab and put it in the new one....) Would I be better to go the route of repairing the floor of the old cab? (it's already been patched and bondoed a lot and would need new panels welded onto it). Thanks for any/all advice.
Cab swap?
How bad's your floor? Either plan is a lot of work. Kinda depends on your welding skills too. If you have to farm out the welding and body work, the swap might be a better route. Keep us posted. Good luck,

Cab swap?
floor is pretty bad and I am just an amateur welder. I feel I will probably go the direction of the swap - the new cab comes with doors too.... nothing will happen for some weeks but will keep you posted, thanks!
Cab swap?
the cab swap isnt that hard .. i had to do the swap on my 86 f150 paid between 4-700 for the cab with no doors so its sounds good... it took me a total of about 2 weekend to finish but i had to gut work gut sleep paint ect.. it might take a better part of a weekend. fri satsun.
