On my SD 5.8 I was wondering if I made an x pipe, or an equalizer box for the twin intake tubes, if it would have anything effect on performance or would I just be wasting time making it?
From all my research on air intakes, Stock factory air intakes will allow more air than a stock engine requires. I believe all the CAI etc are a waste of money on a stock engine. If you want more air install a supercharger. That way the air is forced into the engine. Even stock paper filters let more than enough air in. The only time only aftermarket type filter I believe is good is the AirRaid dry filter. I say this if your doing a lot of dirt, dust or mud running. K&N lets too much fine dirt into your engine.
This is my two cents & years of running off-road.

First you need to determine what you want overall. Then you need to work from the ground up building. Just changing parts as a rule ends up a mess. So sit down & figure out what your end will be. If you want faster starts change gears. If you want fast top end change gears. Are you going to drag race?
no sir she's a mean pullin' machine, I have 4.10s in her right now I want to do a lower end budget kind of build. with a little lift about 2in suspension, im going to run 285/75r16 with long tubes a low end cam and possible swap out the heads for gt40's
the reason for the rpm rang is I really didn't know what to put up tom I would be fine with a idle to 3000 or 1500 to 3000 cam since that's where itll be making the most power I believe
