axle seals?
on Friday I ordered some axle seals for my hiboy from napa i went in today to pick em up and they handed me these like in the pic. what the heck are these for

do you have a closed knuckle front end? Those are felt wipers that clean the knuckle when you turn and prevent leaks

Not sure why they gave you those, your '76 is an open knuckle (or at least it left the factory that way).
