It is aways good to get home after a long trip. This time is no different other than the trip wasn't so long distance wise. A week ago Thursday I took the wife to the local Smelt Fry at the Eagles to socialize after working on aircraft. Upon returning home and settling in for the evening I started feeling as though my tounge was swelling and it tingled; my speack started to slur as well. The wife said that it was time to head to the ER. It took over an hour to be seen and by that time the symptoms abated and it was decided that I reacted to the fish. During the next few days some of the symptoms represented themselves with even other ones. On Monday I wound up in the ER again and this time they did a CT. The results were such that I was imediately sent by Ambulance to Fargo. I was meet be a Neural Surgeon who told me that he had three other patients in worse shape than me. On Tuesday I had my surgery; I had a huge Sub-dural hemotoma. I take a look at all the folks on the CCU floor and see what I had I am trully blessed to have the outcome that I had. I arrived back home on Friday and am taking it a little at a time. It has taken some time to write this because the thought process is slow and I'm sorry if some of the spelling isn't accurate. Final point is, don't take anything for granted. Each day is a gift from God so be part of it. May the Lord Bless each one of you and make sure that your loved ones know how much you love them.
Hey Gear up,
Your message to us here is perfectly clear - I'd say you are doing great!
Take it easy up there in Minnesota & keep showing us the progress you make on Joey's truck! Give your wife a hug too! I bet she was pushing you hard to go in - guys tend to not like hospitals.
Just last week one of my former employee's wife called to tell me Jim was in the hospital. She came home and found Jim sitting in his chair looking kind of strange. She said he suffered from Bells Palsy 25 years ago and he looked like he was having the same symptoms. She took him to the ER and after some tests he was rushed to the OR where they removed a 15mm tumor, they told her they were surprized because a 9mm tumor should have caused problems. Thank God it was non cancerous. I went to visit him last Thursday and he's doing fine. His short term memory was affected and it was quite interesting talking to him but the doctors say he should have a full recovery.
Gear UP here is to a speedy recovery, remember that every day is a gift and we never
know when our last day is ,only god knows that so be thankful for every day
Glad you were able to get back home! Good luck with it and your message is well taken. I am glad to wake up every morning and thank my lucky stars that I am healthy every day! Bless you and your wife and may you recover completely and keep on truckin'!
Ben; when one hears subdural hemotoma you automaticly know you are not in Control. The wife told me years ago that when in the hospital to allow the nurses to do their jobs. There is that part of ones self that follows that to the letter. My wife was an X-ray Tech and I have a tendency to follow her advice. The skill set that the hospital staff had was unbelievable and am truly thankful for all their efferts. Thanks everyone
