Flooring options

Currently my bronco has only the metal floor pans and as you can imagine its pretty loud. I am looking to put down some sort of spray sound deadener and then the vinyl mat over it in the cab area. In the rear cargo area I was thinking about the sound deadener and bedliner over it.

Has anybody done this? I'm concerned that if i get caught with top off in the rain it will run into the cab and soak into mat that comes attached under the vinyl. Is this a valid concern and is there a solution or am I over thinking it?

There is a product called Dynamat. I think they make a sound deadening material. Also there is a spray in product called "Lizard Skin". I say it on an episode of "Trucks". The Lizard Skinz product also reflects heat. Check on Powerblock TV.com (advertisers section)

Both products are available from summit racing. Lizardskins makes a couple different options that would work well. Dynamat would need to be covered. It isn't sturdy enough to be used by itself.

Is good working A/C a concern to you?
When I had the carpeting and padding out of mine some years ago, the A/C was unable to keep up with all the heat that radiated through the floorpan over the trans and on each side of it here in Texas. With the carpeting and the padding (also works as insulation) back in, no problem.

Totally unrelated... back in the 70's I was driving out of Memphis, and somehow missed a detour turnoff, I think it was a dirt road through a field, didn't think that could have been the detour route. And found myself driving along a highway all by myself that was being built (and closed!). I went past a couple exits that were all gravel and closed, and some with rebar laid down. Kept going along, I didn't know what else to do, it was a divided highway. All the road crew people waved to me as I went by each group of them. Finally saw a completed exit, got off, got lost, no signs at all, not on the map I had. Drove into a little town with a bunch of ladies sitting on benches... sign said Olive Branch! So I've been there!

It's got no a/c so I'm not too worried about. I'm more worried about the padding getting wet with me having the top off in the summer. Has anybody had this happen?

As for being in olive branch, if you ever get back up this way let me know. Mississippi is a great state.

Good to know there is a fellow Bronco'er around NW. Miss. I'm in Senatobia, grew up in the Byhalia/OB area.
