Is anybody out there ready for a challange? I need somebody to help me with a dilima!
I removed the airbag from my 1995 F-150 in order to install a peice of audio equipment. The audio equipment has a six wire plug. I would like to use the clock spring in the steering wheel to operate the unit, but the clock spring only supports four wires.
What to do?
Can I replace it with another from a different Ford or will I have to modify it?
I'm far from an expert but I made a ton of mistakes before so I know what I know but your post lost me..... What is a clock spring? I'm assuming you removed the air bag from the steering wheel right? I'm curious as to what you installed and why you had to remove the air bag.
The clockspring assembly is basically a 360 degree connector between the steering wheel and the column. Any controls that are located on the steering wheel are wired thru the clockspring.
I am not sure if you can add wires to a clockspring. I know that there are different clocksprings for different option levels.
You may be able to find one with enough connections on it at a junk yard. will probably be one that had the stereo controls and cruise control on the steering wheel. I am also pretty sure that you could get one from a dealer, but that might be expensive.
