I've got a 1993 F150 4x4 with an E40D, roughly 150k miles. It is experiencing some shifting issues. It revs high in first to shift to second, and I am pretty sure it misses either second or third. However, if you turn the OD off at the point where you want the transmission to shift to second it will shift to second gear. You can then turn the OD back once you get into fourth gear. OD light is blinking occasionally. The only codes I have are 172 (the guy I bought it from ran true duals and didn't put in an O2 sensor), a 332 (a vacuum line replacement should fix this one) and a 634. I check the MLPS positioning today and it's spot on. Fluid seems nice and red and doesn't smell burnt.
My transfer case has 3 broken wires on it. A blue and green that are taped together and what looks like a brown wire. Here is a picture. My hand is covering the motor.
