frame motor mounts
which frame mounts are needed for what motor swaps?
how many diff types are there?
ex: to swap in a 460, you need 351/400m mounts
please list more, i bet more people would like to know. thanks

frame motor mounts
i was trying to compile up a small list, for future info.
and i read somewhere here that a 300 used small block mounts. but knew someone that put one in place of a 360, without changing mounts( i thought). or are those 2 the same. how many diff sets are there anyways?

302, 351w, 351m, 400, 351c all use the same frame mount. 360, 390, 352, 410, 428, 427 use the same mount. 460, 429 use the same mount. 300, 240 or whatever it is six cylinders use the same mounts. you can get conversion motor mounts to put a 460 in using 351m frame mounts. you can also modify fe motor mounts by drilling an extra hole in them to mount a 460.
frame motor mounts
Assuming you already know Ford's engine families this list will help some.
Here are the engine mount and bell housing matches between small blocks, 335 series and Inline 6 engines: 351 Windsor, 351 Cleveland, 302, 289, 300 Inline 6 and maybe 260 and 240 Inline 6. Some of these will need to use the same mounts but just move the stantions forwards or backwards on the frame especially in trucks and some of these use a unique motor mount because of not using stantions especially in cars. Also there are differences in some of mount bolt patterns of some small blocks and Inline 6 engines from earlier and later versions
Here are some more engine mount and bell housign bolt pattern matches between 335 series and 385 series engines: 351M, 400, 429 and 460 (there are some other cubic inch versions that I can't recall).
Here are some engine mount and bell housing bolt pattern matches for the FE and FT. 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 410, 427 and 42. It gets complicated with this one because there are some differences in some engine mount bolt patterns of some earlier and later production engines and commercial applications. There are more cubic inch version, but I just listed the most common ones I know of.
This list covers the more common and more often used engines in 1973 - 1979 trucks. This list is incomplete and some details of exact matches get pretty hair splitting so a list of all of the small details would be nice to have. I say go for it! Details! We want details!
