Is there any preventive maintenace that needs to be done to a new grill to protect it from getting dull. I know keeping clean but didnt know if a clear coat or something like that would help out on the upkeep
It will be aluminum its coming from dennis carpenter restoration i bought a grill one time for a 55belair and tbey recommended to clear it just didnt know if tbere was something that i had to do or recommended to do
2. Spray with a urethane clear- with hardner (following mfg prep)
3. Spray with a "rattle can" product known as "Wheel-Lac" it works very well & was originally for the magnesium wheels, but works on polished aluminum & chrome
Probably a clear coat or something like Beechkid recommended would probably be best. Or keeping it well polished and waxed should keep it looking good. I'm not sure how it works on aluminum but that's what I do for chrome and it works pretty well. Also if you do get it clear coated you can use a plastic polish for clear plastics to polish the clear coat and then wax it. This is what I do for polished aluminum with a clear coat or painted wheels and it works great.
