The common 12 volt feeds are all the same color RED/Light Green but the color code back to the PCM from the coils are all different color codes for the 8 cylinders.
Look at the coil color code for the cylinder your interested in.
On a 5.4 motor you have 8 coils.
On a 4.6 depending on the production time period for 2001 it can be either two coil packs or 8 coils for that year.
A 4.2 V6 is diferent yet.
Either way there is no single wire.
You have not given enough info on the motor and what your trying to do.
