Your truck had the gauges from the factory correct? If it had idiot lights and you are adding in a used gauge cluster the wiring is different. If your truck did come with the gauges your problem is most likely in the curcuit board on the back of the cluster. It is the part which powers all the gauges and lamps with copper traces rather than wires. After years the clear plastic starts breaking and the lamps/gauges don't make good contact.
