oh god and here i am running C's!!! mine should explode at any moment.
Don't feel bad, when I bought the Ex I put Telluride E's on it and found out 2 years later they were recalled (too late to get in on it), and then I ran Steeltex D's after that in the summer (also recalled), and when those wore out I went to C's (LT's) and finally wore those out so now I am back to running my winter Telluride recalls in the summer since half the stud centers came out. Next is E recaps from Treadwright. I never have anyone with me in the Ex so I don't feel guilty. Just my daredevil self.............lol
I bought my ex a little over 2 months ago and the previous owner had recently installed d rated bfgs in 395/75/16. I havent towed anything with them, but for daily use and offroad they ride pretty great. I run them at max psi. there was some pretty bad feathering on the fronts when I got them. not sure if it was due to lack of rotation, or a seperate issue. I just ordered balljoints so that may have something to do with it. If I had a choice, I would buy an e rated tire though. but you better believe I'm going to run these into the dirt.
Your tires are rated for 2,470 lbs @ 50 PSI. While these would certainly not be my choice, they will be fine as long as you keep them properly inflated and you don't put much weight in the X. Empty with a full tank you are 3,750 lbs on the rear axle, so you can't have more than 1,000 lbs extra on that axle without being overweight.
You also aren't going to be able to achieve the recommended pressures on the door sticker. As long as you keep it light and don't exceed 50 PSI you should have no trouble with these.
oh i know i wont have a issue i'm running about 43psi in them right now and i like it. i dont tow or haul much of anything except my ***.
i also run 265/75 16 C's in the winter with 30psi in them.
i do have my factory 16s with cooper ATR 265/75 16 E rated for possible towing i'll be doing once i buy my travel trailer. or i can just use the expediton

Now we're gonna disasgree...
This is dangerously underinflated for the load you carry. Empty our V10 Excursions weigh 3,600 lbs on the front and 3,750 on the rear. 30 PSI is enough to support 1,482 lbs per tire, or 2,964 lbs per axle. You need more pressure than that to safely carry your empty Excursion particularly at the speeds you drive at. .

Assuming that was a typo?
Has anyone ever run 245/75/16? I know they aren't as wide and might look weird I'm just wondering HOW weird... they are Traction King tires and rated E...
I'm only looking to get a couple months (summer) use out of them as I plan to buy new tires in the fall when my financial situation is alot better...

Why so low?
Agreed, and if he has a wreck with C rated tires, and the insurance adjuster sees them, they dont have to cover it.

245s aren't that bad, my '11 had them. I always called them minivan tires...

traction on the ice/snow covered roads.
LOL about the insurance, all i got to say about that.

But he needs the low pressure for when he is going over the speed limit on the snowy and icy roads.

I normally just drive around this small town and when I had my LT C's I kept them at 50 pounds since all tires are their strongest at the pressure rating on the sidewall. 80 lbs is not necessary for the E's but they are even stronger there.

You mean COL? haha
Seriously though, Russ, lets say you have a blowout and wreck. (Im not saying you will because you have C rated tires, Im just saying if you did.)
You call your insurance to make a claim, they send out an adjuster, and he looks at it. He looks at the tires, and if he is thorough he could say that since they are Cs they legally dont have to cover it, because the blowout was caused by overloaded tires. (This is why tires chain stores will not do things like mount Cs if the door says Ds or even mount oversize tires, its a liability.)
Does that not sound plausible?
That seems like a homerun for an insurance company to me. They have weasled out of much more difficult situations I assure you.
