Should I buy 99 F250 6.8 V10
I am in need of sum advice I am currently looking at a 1999 F250 6.8/V10 4x4 extended cab. Asking $9500 for it. It has a 3 inch body lift with a 8 inch suspension lift sitting on 38.5 swampers. Has a predator performance programmer. Comes with another set of rims and tires. Also had a new fuel pump installed a month ago. The truck from the pictures looks really clean besides the one cab corner will have to be cut out and replaced.
I am currently deployed and my father is going to look at this truck I need to give him a list of stuff to look over when he checks the truck out can anyone give me sum tips on what he wants to look for?
Everything I posted is what I know about the truck as of now on Tuesday I will know more about the truck. I am on a strict budget due to buying a house and I just want a decent lifted truck to have fun in.....I owned a 2001 F350 V10 6.8 and loved it so this is why im interested in this one..
Please let me know what you think...

Personally I think he is asking too much. As soon as you said body lift, that turned me off. The 99's were the most under powered V10, so unless it was re-geared it is going to be a dog. How many miles are on it, when were the plugs changed last, and are the exhaust manifold studs broken?

While I agree that the '99 is the least powerful V10, it is still not a slouch engine. It is not the V10 that would make this truck a dog, it is the oversize tires and possible poor gear choice that would make that likely. If it has 373's I'd walk from any V10 with those tires. You need at least 456s.
My '99 V10 2WD tows my 7500# RV trailer just fine. It is mostly stock but has 430 gears which really woke up the V10. The '99 V10 had some problems with spitting plugs (mine hasn't in over 105K miles) but that can be controlled with 75K mile plug changes and proper torquing procedures. The most troublesome thing I have found with the V10 and it afflicts all V10s are the manifold studs causing exhaust leaks.
Until more is known about the truck, mileage, condition, accessories, maintenence, it is hard to tell if the price is right.

The question is what does it book for in it`s current condition miles wear and tear etc... The lift and tires don`t add to it`s value. That truck won`t go for 9,500 thats his asking price and he knows it. He`s way high so I`d start way low...pick that thing apart are the tires newer if not tires that size will put you back 2,000 at least...if it has`nt been regeared consider all the added stress on trans...don`t even get me started on front end ball joints, tie rods etc...but otherwise assuming it is a solid truck like I said book value is where you start which just guessing is probaly more like 7-7500 if that.

On a 14 year old truck, I would say that the lift and tires subtract from the value. Especially that much lift and that big a tire. It only adds to wear on the rest of the vehicle. Unless you really like it and the lift/tires are worth something to YOU, I would look elsewhere. A lot of those trucks can be had for cheaper.
As for the V10. I had a 2000 Excursion V10 4x4. The original 2V V10 was not powerhouse but it held its own in that big excursion. A lot of perfectly reliable super high mileage V10s out there. The originals ended up being pretty damn good motors.

Even if the drivetrain would last another 100k, there are a host of other parts you will more than likely have to replace. The lift and tires can increase the wear factor on the drivetrain, axles, ball joints, steering etc.. What may seem like a good deal can turn into a money pit headache.
I would keep looking for a closer to stock truck. They are getting really hard to find though.
