Power steering question

Hey guys, I think my power steering pump is starting to go out, as it will sometimes make that whining/buzzing sound that you can hear/feel a bit in the steering wheel. But it only does this when I turn the steering wheel to the left and its not constant, it is intermittent when it does it, that is to say as I start turning left it will whine/buzz then stop and then whine/ buzz again. It wont do it until it heats up and it doesn't do it every time I turn left but it does it every time I drive it. Applying the brakes makes no difference either. I have done the power steering flush and it made no difference. Is there anything else in this power steering/hydroboost system that can cause this other than a failing pump?

How are your ball joints etc? If they are binding to the left it can strain the pump.

What ATF did you use for the flush?

I haven't checked the ball joints, I used mercon ATF to do the flush.

I've found that a good cleaner can make a big difference when flushing. A straight flush won't clean sludge out of the valves.

Also, use a synthetic fluid.

At the shop we have a specific cleaner for PS systems. Valvoline has one, Phyzix, Gunk has one. You can use the gunk trans flush stuff too if no one has the PS specific stuff.

And no problem on replies!
