Pulling engine out A T

I might be pulling my 390 out of my 74. It's a 4x4 with a married transfer case, so pulling the engine with the tranny is not an option. I don't remember do I loosen the converter at the inspection cover and then pull the motor? I never pulled a motor with a automatic

Yeah, Id pull the starter to use a screwdriver to wedge the flywheel if necessary, turning the crank with a big ratchet to each of the 4 torque converter nuts, then pry the TC back into the tranny
