Fried IDM

After three years of trouble free service it looks like I need a new IDM. Should I choose a performance one or let the mechanic put in a stock unit?

If you can get one out of a 99-03 superduty, they are 120v, compared to our 100. Slight upgrade. You can find remanned ones on ebay. I bought one there for a spare.

Would that be the same as upgrading to the Swamps High Voltage IDM for the 97' PSD?

The high voltage ones are 140v, a little more that the super dutys. I think swamps has the high voltage and high frecuency also.

I'm wondering if the Swamps one is worth it on stock sticks, will it smooth out the idle or what is the overall high performance benefit versus longevity of the system?

You will have to get Glenns opinon too cause he did the hvhf i just got the high voltage from beans. The only thing i could tell is it smoothed out the idle. I think it was worth it but thats just me.

"Mechanic"? It's one plug, and a few bolts holding it onto the inner fender.
