92 f150 sleeper

I want to turn my 92 f150 into a sleeper and I have some questions of what the best route would be to go about getting more acceleration and mid range power, the truck currently has a 351 Cleveland with an automatic 2wd c6 tranny and h9 rear end, would I be able to swap the auto tranny out with a 5 speed tranny? Also I was reading up on putting a chip in the truck to give it more Hp and acceleration, I still nee the truck to have enough power to pull and haul things for the summer before I go full ***** to the wall with this truck and make it strictly for showing off then pulling and hauling. I red up on some chips that may help they both claim to increase my Hp by 60 horses and also increase fuel economy and acceleration. what I would like to know which is the best chip, i only did a little research and the best 2 chips so far i could find are the Gforce performance chip and the PCD performance chip, which is best? Also what would be the best spark plugs to put in it for a tune up? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!!

You or someone must of installed the 351 Cleveland, what year is it? You'll have trouble putting a 5 speed in The Cleveland was never used in the truck.
A Cleveland shouldn't need much to go all out. The other problem is what computer was used the Cleveland never was used with a factory computer vehicle so it must be aftermarket. I can't imagine someone installing a 351 Cleveland & not setting it up to go all out.

I agree with Craig on this. It doesn't sound stock so things may be a little harder to mod since the truck sounds "custom built" with that drive line but I may be wrong. Building a sleeper is easy though. Some nice headers and good flowing exhaust with quiet mufflers.

In the engine a mild cam, some nice heads and a intake will give you a real stout motor.

Trans wise if you wanna go 5-speed then go for it but the c6 is a really stout auto trans and if you wanna you can even buy a floor shifter for it to give it that manual feel, but that's just my $.02.

How to tell the difference:
A 351C has 9 bolts holding on each valve cover and requires the use of a 5/8" spark plug socket.

A 351W has 6 bolts holding each valve cover and requires the use of a 13/16" spark plug socket.

(According to my Automotive Engine Rebuilding book)

To look at a 351 Cleveland it looks like a 400 or 460 in size. I never have seen on with with a stock computer set up. You would have to upgrade almost everything to use a 351 Cleveland. Not to mention 351 Cleveland's are fairly rare.
If everyone that claims to have a 351 Cleveland had one there would be more now than ever made.
I go to car shows all the time, I go to Barrett-Jackson yearly & I never see a 351 Cleveland, except in a period correct Ford/Mercury, & they are very rare. The one I see the most is my buddy has a Cougar with a 351 Cleveland. That came from the factory equipped with the Cleveland engine. A fairly rare convertible car.
Show us a picture?? That will answer the question once & for all. I bet its a 351 Windsor stock in 1992 F150s.

Does this truck still have the stock EFI system on it? If so then you have a 351w because that intake won't fit on a Cleveland.

NOT a Cleveland. it is a Windsor engine

Also it does NOT have a 9" rear, it is a 8.8

HIGHLY doubtful you have a C6 either

No chip will give you even 25hp. You have to bolt parts on or tear into the engine

What HP number are you looking to hit

This is clearly a kid that someone told him a story. How many times have we seen this on these boards. Crap a real 351 Cleveland worth more than the truck.
As you guys that have been around here know, many more don't know the difference between a Cleveland and any other 5.8L. I'm an old man I remember seeing them run back in the day. It is about like the real 289 Hi Performance engine. most don't know they ran a solid lifter cam. They were much more potent than a 302 HO.
Anyway, when he posts a picture of his engine it will be clear, even a bad picture will tell the story, because a Cleveland looks nothing like a Windsor.
