96 Ranger speedo problem...
I've got a 1996 Ranger and the speedometer will sometimes work erratically. It will sometimes start to drop to 0 mph and spring back to speed. I have tried to document different combinations of accessories on / off and nothing is consistent. It will do it in the cold and in heat both. HELP!!!

96 Ranger speedo problem...
My 96 doesn't have a speedo cable, but rather a speed sensor located off of the tranny. This sensor is probably what is driving your speedometer all over the place. Try changing it out with a new one. They're not expensive. Only other thing could be the wiring coming off of it going to the speedo sensor.
