The dually

Well figured I would start as now the work has.

After purchasing my 94idit dually crew I new I wanted to update it as the flagship truck for my company.
I havent had allot of free time lately but I knew it needed a couple items to be good to go.
First off it has an exhaust leak, typical!
some brakes will be needed soon. Other than that this truck was a well cared for trailer hauler. it has sat most of its life other than camper season.

After some further driving its seems to have a small oil pressure issue, this has made me a little nervous. So out I went to buy a motor donor, found a 94 idit with all the goodies I need want and then some. Started to yard the motor out of this beast, still in progress should be out shortly. The truck purchased also has a nice little bag kit in the rear, good grill and other little items that i will be scavenging for future needs,

I figured since the dually oil pressure could be due to a failing motor? Yet no other signs of failing,
I would rebuild the donor engine to factory as a back up for the dually.

But!!!!! after reading a thread on here I have another plan.
This engine will follow the build of a little more power and a whole lot more boost, similar to Racindrummins build.
The plan: Dually:
New engine
lowered
custom paint.
and semi wheels.
Yes I said Lowered! (its a 2wheel drive) and I like low trucks.

To continue with the items that were needed rite now, Turns out the exhaust leak is two cracked manifolds and a cracked down pipe from the turbo.
Forgot to mention need to get this registered asap as the 14 days are up, so this weekend spent prepping the manifolds from the donor, sandblasted and painted black using that high heat header paint. Tapped a bung for the pyro.
Also ordered a down pipe from summit, turns out that wont be in for two weeks?? So I built one, fits like a glove. Good thing for the little mig that could.. Nice to weld again its been years.

I will use the banks one I ordered on my other truck,91f250, which will get the dually engine when it goes.

Installed autometer digital gauges on the pillar. Oil/pyro/ boost.
Looks good, still concerned about the oil press, but we'll driver till she goes.

Will post pics shortly after the manifolds and down pipe are done curing.

Question for all: Heat wrap? should I wrap the cross over and down pipe?? Thoughts..

Thanks everyone this should be a fun project/projects stay tuned!
Oh and since the 91 doesnt have gauges figured why not, picked up same set of gauges but ultralite II,
will keep posted on both trucks!!
And if anyone in Alberta needs some parts off a 94 let me know, As I have a donor to strip..

Also after my first haul with the dually picking up the Donor, had the pleasure of waking up to a small pool of gear oil.

ok been a while since I posted. So the doner engine is torn apart. Looks to be in not to bad of shape. The heads have 4 cracked pre cups, so not sure if I will need to find new ones or not? During the tear down glow plug broke off now stuck in chamber. So i will start the grinding of the oil galley on top of the block just to clean it up a little. Also do some work to the heads. I have the machine shop lined up, and will be collecting the needed parts over the next few weeks. Undecided as to what turbo I will be running but will decide soon enough.

In the mean time The red truck is still kicking kinda. Oil pressure still jumps around and always smokes when cold. Past few weeks it has been missing and puffin a little while cruising. Cant figure why? Installed new injectors and now it seems to be worse smoking every now and then even when hot, same smoke at start up? Any one have any idea?

I am crazy busy with work right now but will post some pics in the next few weeks once I have started the grinding.

On another note Saturday I will be picking up two more clean diesels to add to the fleet.
not idi but they look great will update on this as well

1997 f350 crew dually
1995 f250 ext cab

Then I think I will be done purchasing trucks for a while, unless another deal comes along

Thanks for listening and anyone with info on the smoke issue I would appreciate the help
