Hi Guys,I have a 96 F250 HD 7.3 turbo diesel, I was under the truck doing some work on the front end and noticed a black heavy duty plug by the frame (front fender well )of my truck. I also found a standard plug by the baterry which traces back to the oil filter area in which its attached to a fitting. I assume this is the block heater plug,my question is what is the large black plug by the fender well for? it seems to tie into the main electrical line that goes to the trucks cab or computer?
So what is the large black plug for, its located and attached to the inside of the drivers side front fender well and looks like a plug thats used to charge industrial forklifts to give you an idea of what it looks like? its about two inchs wide and a half inch high.
I think it was a foresight of an option that never came to be. I may be wrong, but I've never seen DRLs on one of these trucks, but they have those plugs for them.
All trucks have the DRL plug. its behind the bumper on the drivers side, on the front of the rad support. Only way to see it is to lay on your back and look up between the bumper and the plastic wheel well cover. USA trucks just have a dummy plug in place but you can pull any DRL module out of a similar year ford car and plug it in, instant DRL's

Thats correct, and that dummy plug IIRC is a jumper.

could just be a power plug that provides full battery power. possibly for a custom jump starting cable. you know on one end you have that "forklift power plug" and on the other end battery post aligator clips like normal jumper cables. does it have extremely fat wire coming out of it? and do the wires run directly to the batteries? ive seen tow trucks that use this setup. makes roadside jump starts a snap. 2 inches wide and half inch tall. 2 terminals? I had given some thought to doing a setup like this except I would put one at both the front and back bumper. the plug is polarized so it cant be hooked up wrong.
