Tire load range
I know these trucks came stock with load range "E" tires but is there any reason not to go with a load range "D" in some cases? I do no trailering, no heavy towing or hauling (although I'd like to if the need arose) and virtually all of my use is commuting on the highway. The reason for thinking about this, if you look at the BFG A/T's the load raneg "D" is severe weather rated while the load range "E" is not. Would I be introducing any real risk or sacrificing any real durability by going with the D's? Maybe gain a little better ride quality too?

There isn't really a safety concern as long as you don't exceed the load capacity of the tire. Most LR D tires I've found have a maximum load of 3,000 lbs at 65 PSI, which means they are safe on your truck. I don't think you'll notice any improvement in ride quality though.
I would stick with the LR E tires. You will have a small increase in stability and a much larger selection of tires to choose from.
