No such 9" ratio as 4.09-1.

so what is my ratio?
This is what you decoded from my door plate
H3: Ford WFF 9" Heavy Duty Rear Axle with a 9 3/8" Ring Gear / 4.09-1 / 2 Pinion Traction-Lok (Limited Slip) / 3,600 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
I also found what I believe to be the rear axle tag.( was in the toolbox)

If that is the correct tag it will tell you. There will be two rows of digits. Look on the bottom row. All the way to the left is the ratio. The bolt head usually covers up most of the 1st digit so it may be kinda smashed. If the is a "L" in the middle of it it is a traction lock. (4L10 rather than 410). The next digit in line will be a "9" since you have a 9" rear end.

9" not available with a 4.09 ratio unless a 1970/72 F100 with a heavy duty 9" with a 9 3/8" ring gear...that you failed to mention when you said your 9" had a 4.09 ratio.

Ford WFF-C 9" Rear Axle w/a 9 3/8" ring gear / 4.09-1 / Traction-Lok / 31 spline axle shafts / 3,600 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

0CC = Assembled the 3rd week (C), of March (C), 1970 (0).

9 vs 9 3/8: Only 5 parts are the same: Housing gasket, one pinion bearing and cup, pilot bearing retainer, pinion seal. EVERYTHING else is different!
