Hey guys just bought my first ex, 04 6.0 and got rid of my 2500hd sierra 6.6. I was kind of curious on what to do to this 6.0. I was thinking and told todo a couple things like a coolant filter, air intake, and exhaust. I just got it two weeks ago and i really like it and i just bouht rims and tires just putting the lift kit on in a couple weeks
Thx ill check it out. Believe it or not but i got them to give me a 2yr 24k mile warrentee on it,not bumper to bumper but damn close. And according to the maintenance history alot of the things thay uad issues for them years have been replaced. Turbo headstuds and a fircm and a couple other things are all done. My mpg sucks lol and it has alot more turbo lag then im used to bt im excited about doing this truck up. To be honest i been doing alot of reading about this truck but i realy dont know anything about the 6.0 so im all ears

The tuner will greatly reduce the turbo lag.
I highly recommend custom tunes by Matt at Gearhead. With the headstuds you can do SRL+
Get some digital gauges, that plug into your obd port. There are smart phone app gauges with a bluetooth dongle. then you can monitor your oil/coolant delta, fuel injection control module(ficm) voltage, transmission temperature, battery voltage and more!
the black box above the steering wheel is the scangauge. the 4 gauge pod on the left is a low press oil, boost, pyro, fuel press. the Gauges have 7 different colors that can be selected
Scangauge II is about $150 at most parts stores. It's an extremely versatile tool. You'll find that most 6.0 owners here on FTE have and love it. Myself included
Scangauge looks pretty good! I had a edge attitude on my other truck and was really missing having that info,i will definetly be getting that. Is it hard tohook up?
I have a 3.5" MBRP downpipe, a 3.5" MBRP cat delete (test pipe) and the OEM exhaust with a 5" tip. When I get home from this deployment I will do a muffler delete. I might at some point change to a 4" catback (test pipe-back in my case) though. But for my purposes the OEM 3.5" pipe is/was sufficient until recently
I also have a relatively headgasket safe tune from Matt @ Gearheads. His SRL tune is wicked fun. My truck is lifted on 35's and it'll rip 'em loose without trying. before you have fun with it, you need to find out what your motor is doing though.
here is a pic of the OEM 3.5" downpipe vs the one I installed. the test pipe is the piece going under my kids ride-on
as far as intakes, the factory intake is actually good for up to 500 wheel HP. save your money and keep the factory setup. Do the Zoodad intake mod if you want a little more free air https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...9&postcount=36
and I personally like the Sinister Coolant Filter. I paid $115 or so for mine shipped. All of the filter units do the same thing, it's really just a style preference which one you pick. Have fun. That said, my Sinister setup is very well built and has given me zero issues. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...7&postcount=26
