Electronic locking axle

I'm wondering if someone can help me out here. I purchased a used 2011 F-350 long box crew cab 6.7 and it's 2 wheel drive. The truck has an electronic locking axle and I'm wondering would I use that (locked) when towing or just on slippery conditions?

Just leave traction control on. It works great. The locking ELD really is when you think you might get stuck..but it kicks out at 20 mph.and also senses the steering wheel is being turned a certain amount. I personally find it dang near worthless. One blip of the throttle and your over 20 mph.

There is a plug in module available that allows you to use the ELD at any speed. I can't remember who sells it, but there have been threads about it on this forum.

SPE has the module for the ELD. I think it's $50.

I find it VERY useful. I pull heavy equipment trailers 14K-16k. I often go up gravel driveways, or into fields, and I'll spin a wheel. A quick pull of the **** and I've got enough traction to move. 4wd is a help too, but with all the pin weight over the rear axle, ELD is a bigger help.
