Looking for ideas for a inexpensive tonneau cover for my 350 longbed .
I have a chest style tool box up against the cab that just under bed rail height , and it has 3.5 in. on both sides of the box to the inside of the bed rails. also looking for one that has a low profile on top of the bed rails to give me the most room between the bed rails and the bottom of my 5ver. which is about 5.75 in. now.
Not looking so much for security, but mostly to keep the weather out.
Something like the Truxedo TruXport Roll-Up Tonneau Cover.
But any other ideas from those who have similar, but wish the would have found xxx brand first, but wound up finding it later.
Here it is 14 months later and it's worked like a champ to protect my superslider etc...
and trifolds out of the way to not make contact with even my trailair shock when hooked up to the 5er
(this pic is before I aired up shock to make it more vertical)
I have the trail-air also, but i'm leaning toward a low profile roll up cover, as long as it will clear the top of the tool chest.
Too many companys and styles to choose from , my heads spinning.
side note : wife just says what are you looking at now... and rolls hers eye's, too funny
Low profile covers mount inside the truck bed instead of on top of the bed. This may make it impossible to open your tool box. I tried the Truxedo low profile cover and could not open my toolbox. Had to go with the top mounted one. Still gave me enough clearance for my 5er.
I have the Bakflip. Nice four section hard cover. Only takes up an inch or so on the inside of the bedrails. Keeps the weather out, only sticks up about a 1/4" . And with a locking tailgate it lockable too.
Just installed the Access lorado rollup cover that I purchased from 4wheel online with free shipping. This is my third of this line thru the years. Nice low profile and in my opinion the velcro lasts many years with out issues. I had a lund a few trucks back and the velcro kept lifting off the rails.
I have the Undercover, Looks good and is very Secure and keeps things dry but is a real PITA to remove it's long and bulky. I haven't put it back on yet so I'm not sure how that will go.

Here are some photos of my Soft-Roll-Up Truxedo from the Ford Dealer. It is the TruXport cover I have and I think it's probably the best soft roll up cover available.
Install took me 10 minutes alone and the clamps should fit right in with that much space between the tool box and rails. No drill install.
You won't have to worry about toolbox clearance either since the rails make the tonneau cover about 1-1.5" off the box rails.
You may also want to pad the clamps to avoid scratching the paint under the rail and on the tonneau rails.
I just used some left over Velcro from my BedTred kit.
I like the roll up cover for the fact that , it will roll up tight to the rear window with a small profile , while i'm towing our 5ver.
My one problem is the top of my lid of my truck chest sits less than 1/2 below the tops of the bed rails. I have 3.5 in. from the sides of the chest to the insides of the bed rails , so that shouldn't be a problem for the cover rails.
The only other thing is , I would like to keep as much room as possible between the bottom of the 5ver and the top of the cover rail. I have close to 6in. now. The cover will be rolled up and strapped in place while towing. but the rail still have to be there.
Have anyone run into this,
any suggestions ??
I have a soft roll cover by Agri-cover. Same as the soft one in here, velcro rails clamp to the sides and it locks down and you lock the tailgate, release by unlocking the tailgate. It stick up an inch on each side on the rails, as it Velcro's down the full length of the rail. My toolbox is a custom with the same 3.5 inches from the bed rails, tight to the back of the box. My lid does have a 3 inch relief so the lid doesn't interfere with the rolled up cover. I have had it 8 years and it's doing great. I got mine at a local truck upkfitter. It's a quality unit, easy to roll up, say to install, relatively secure, and does a god job protecting the load underneath, even with a foot of snow on top. Rolls up small, has two tie straps which hold in place. I will go see if I can find a link.
Thanks all for the replies, "Super Duty brotherhood"
