Why no recall?
<hr style="color:#ffffff; background-color:#ffffff" size="1"> With the amount of collateral damage caused by low fuel
pressure, why on God's green earth would ford not install
the "BLUE SPRING" as a recall?
My wife's 08 toyota prius @ 130,000 mi.
just received a new water pump under a recall.
Seems like a no brainer. I know it's all about the$$$
but I gotta tell ya, after this 6.oh, it maybe my last ford truck.
1972 ford f-250 camper special
1985 ford f-150 first new vehicle!
1988 ford f-150
2006 ford f350 6.oh.
Just my $0.02, but perhaps because you've been such a loyal Ford owner
you haven't experienced what it's like with other manufacturers:
In the 14 years/197k miles I owned my '97 Tahoe (traded it in '10 for my Ex):
I replaced head gaskets 3 times.
I replaced the cat twice.
I replaced the trans once.
After a Chevy recall (under warranty) my steering "wander" became WORSE
than my Ex's (even BEFORE the red head), and I drove like that for 100k miles.
I enjoy my Ford Excursion WAY better, and I have spent LESS on it,
including purchase price, bulletproof Diesel install, AND upgrades on FTE
then I did on my Tahoe - purchase price plus repairs listed above.
(yes only 3 years owning the Ex, vs. 14 years owning the Tahoe)
AND I now get considerably better MPG with my 6L.
I would NEVER buy another Chevy (or my first - cough - Dodge).

Iv had good luck with chev cars
Iv had the worst luck with Dodge and Iv only owned 1 and it started right out the shoot with 24 miles and about 12 hours of new ownership it poped its first CEL
Beleive it or not after about a Year and half with the Dodge the Dodge had Broke down more Way More then the Chev Car I had with over 200k and I got rid the dodge at Little under 50K once the rear main went
the Dodge was a Dakota and IIRC it was one of there more troblesome models

Hehehe... Benny, the whole time I was reading your post I was thinking: "sounds like my Dakota". It went to a new owner with maybe 20k on it and probably 15 trips to the dealer...

WOW sounds pretty Identicle to my problem child dakota
Maybe you have noticed too But I used to see dakotas all over the roads now not so many
Makes me wonder if they were Dodges worst auto ever produced
No my injectors, knock on wood are fine.
It's not about me at all.
I can't wrap my brain around why this simple fix
that international and ford know about, and can save their
beat up customers just a little less grief, isn't done automatically
when a truck is brought in. Even @ a minimal charge.
Well, one way to look at it is where do they draw the line.... I would love to see the STC fitting covered under a recall, as well as the standpipe and rail plugs, and the HPO reservoir filter screen. But it's not going to happen, so I'm not going to waste my breath wondering why, I'll just fix it and move on with life. The parts cost of all three the things I mentioned is about what one full tank of diesel costs, so in the grand scheme of ownership IMO it's a non-issue.
Sucks if you're paying shop rate labor to fix it though.
I agree they have to draw line somewhere every business has to draw a Line once the business isnt profitable then its pointless to operate
I dont think a spring would Kill Ford
I just dont think enough Truck drop Below an Acceptible Fuel Pressure Limits even with OEM Spring Lots of other Problems that are Way More common to Fail
All the class action stuff is what covers Consumers after the fact cause its not right a Company would sell Junk Any product can be poorly/Cheaply made and NOT Just Limited to Auto
