I'm taking your advice! I just ordered the EBP sensor and it should be in on Tuesday. I cant wait to install it. I'll be sure to check the tube with the weed eater line as well and will report back when all is said and done.
So what is going on with the EBP sensor on the 2003 trucks?
We have the sensor and tube, but is it being used by the computer or is it being ignored?
Does it matter if it works or not, or if it's clean or clogged?
With my AE at KOEO I get:
MAP - 14.25
BARO - 14.32
EBP - "Unable to Learn Exhaust Back Pressure Due to an Engine Sensor Fault"
The 6.0L Bible for 2003.25 says: "The EP measures exhaust back pressure so that the PCM can control the VGT and EGR system."
Throw in to the mix that I have an EGR delete but it's still plugged in, what does it all mean?
Should I even bother with it if there's no codes or issues? But really curious as to why it operates that way.
I have a p0299 as well but turbo seems to be working fine. I have cleaned the ebp tube and sensor. Can anyone tell me if these numbers are within spec?
KOEO map 14.7 Baro 14.6 ebp 14.7 at 160ft above sea level.
Low idle map 14.5-6 baro 14.6 ebp 15.2-9
High idle 2500 rpm map 15.5 baro 14.6 ebp 17.6-18
My truck is a 2/04 build date. Isn't that past when ebp strategy was taken out with flashes? I'm curious seeing someone with an 06' having to worry about ebp sensor readings.
I'm trying to eliminate all possibilities before pulling the turbo. I have seen some excessive lag intermittently but I also only drive it about once a week. It still has no problems hitting 26lbs boost on the Scanguage 2. Thanks

1) CEL is no longer on after replacing the EBP sensor
2) MAP and BARO are showing 12.1, and EBP is showing 14.6, was 15 last time, however I didnt have enough time today to clean the tube that the ebp sensor hooks up to. I'm planning on pulling it off on my next day off work and cleaning it.
3) When I test drove it, I noticed an air fluttering noise that i've heard in the past a few times, but now it happens all the time. When i let of the gas pedal, there is a fluttering noise for a few seconds. It sounds like its coming from the drivers side. I'm going to take off the air cleaner assy and make sure I put everything together correctly. Also, if i accelerate just a tiny bit heavy, that flutter noise comes back and theres a slight loss of power for a second, which has never happened before. So, in the end, the CEL is off for now, I'll be cleaning the eBP tube, and i'll need to investigate the new air flutter noise. I'm still a bit concerned that the ebp is still far over the .5 variance of the other two sensors but hopefully the tube cleaning helps that.
I think the guys Jam like a WeedEater Line down the EBP Tube to clear it
Hope this isnt like 2 others I have seen where they did have BAD EBP Value and replaced EBP BUT it didnt help them. And IDK what they did after that cause they didnt update there thread or if they did I missed it
Maybe if clean ebp tube dont help Check the Wires to EBP going to PCM would be what I would also check
Update. Had some more time come available so I pulled off the ebp tube. It was pretty dirty, but more so on the sensor side and not the exhaust side, which surprised me. After removing the tube, i sprayed carb cleaner down it until the carb cleaner came out clear, then I ran a pipe cleaner down the tube and more stuff black stuff came out, then proceeded to spray more carb cleaner. I ran the pipe cleaner through the port into the exhaust manifold too. I feel confident I cleaned it well. EBP reading is still not within spec on koeo, map and baro at 12.1 and ebp is at 14.6. Atleast the CEL light is off now, however I have a new issue. That air flutter noise I mentioned is still there, and i have no idea what it is. On acceleration, once i reach 10psi on turbo boost, i hear a flutter noise and the trucks rpm drops a ffew hundred. Also, when I let of the gas pedal, it flutters as well. Not sure how this issue would occur from the parts i removed. Any ideas? Before i just had a cEL light on, now I cant really drive it.
even though im only showing 10psi on factory boost gauge? also, it seems to do it more often when i let off the gas pedal. so strange it started doing this after i replaced the ebp sensor.
Yes that was the only code, but its no longer coming up. I'll try to inspect the wire for chaffing. If I was getting an overboost, would it still make that flutter noise on acceleration? It seems to happen right around 10psi of boost. I've already driven it a few times, and one time it didnt do it at all on acceleration and only after letting the pedal off.
