Wondering if something will work... I have a 50oz roller block assembly I am assembling to replace a 28oz assembly... The 50oz will require a flywheel and a damper I do not yet have. I do have the 28oz flywheel, crank, and damper.
After thinking about this for a bit, I cant see any reason why simply installing the 28oz components into the roller block wont work. The boat I am doing all this to ran well for years under the 28oz crank so if smoothness or whatever is an issue, its a negligible difference.
I can and will do the 50oz crank if its absolutely needed but otherwise would like to save a couple hundred bucks on parts I dont need.
The 28oz crank has seen less use than the 50oz but both are serviceable. Plz advise. Thx.
The complete 28 oz crank parts should work together. You may run into a problem with the newer block. After late 1982, the blocks used a 1-piece rear main seal, while the blocks (and cranks) before then used the 2-piece rear mail seal, but the change from 28 oz to 50 oz imbalance occurred in 1981. So it's very likely that your crank needs a 2 piece seal, while your block uses a 1-piece seal.
